Welcome all members to the GCTMC Inc in 2008. This year is the 40th Anniversay year of our car club and we hope to bring you some more exciting events, social gatherings and attract youger members, particularly juniors under 18 years old, to share the passion of motorsport and motoring in general. Well, I will start by giving thanks to our out going committee and club members for their huge effort that has contributed to another very successful year. Our club finished the year with 91 members and successfully ran two(2) highly acclaimed rallying events in 2007.  Not to mention several Khanacross events and competing in the Queensland Interclub Challenge series which was supported by Sherrin Motor Sport.

  The successes of 2007 has spurred me on to put my name in the hat for the top job in 2008 and after this evenings AGM, I will be ably supported by Gary Mitchell as Vice President, Shaun Brown as Secretary, Tony Taylor as Treasurer and Baden Uren as Club Captain which form the club Executive.

  I first joined the Gold Coast Tweed Motorsporting Club 16 years ago, and have previously held the positions of Vice President, Club Captain and newsletter editor as well as being a competitor of rallying over that time. My family consists of 2 young kids under three and a nine year old, and of course my lovely wife Kylie. I have a huge passion for historic motor racing, and wide flared Escorts, as these are the flares seen on Ford Escort motor cars and not the clothes worn by large escorts. Last year when I heard that the club was going to start running rallies again, I thought it was about time to purchase something and get back into a sport that has made me more life time friends then I can make enough Christmas cards for.

 I hope this year I will be able to meet and hear what a lot of our club members are up to, invite some guest speakers to our club meetings, and basically have a good chin wag on a regular basis.
